Because hand contact has been reported as the primary
means by which viruses spread, in order to minimize the
spread of flu, including the H1N1 variety, Region 12 has
decided to enact a policy of minimal contact, especially
with hands, during AYSO activities, including practices
and games for the remainder of this season. What that
means is that any contact, especially with hands,
will/should be avoided, e.g. hand shakes, high 5, etc.
This applies to contact between players and coaches on the
same teams, as well. Clapping can be substituted as a way
to congratulate, or thank, players, coaches, and referees.
We also recommend that when sneezing, do it into your
elbow rather than your hands, use hand sanitizers, like "Purell",
regularly, and do not bring a player out, if they are not
well.
Please note that other regions will likely be observing
a similar policy, so do not take it as anything other than
flu avoidance, if they clap rather than shake your hand.

the Flu this season"

Please print and have on hand several copies of the
incident report.
The AYSO Incident Report Form is used whenever there is a
personal injury, damaged property, or threats of or actual
physical violence surrounding an AYSO game, practice,
event or property. The form should be prepared by the
coach, AYSO Official, or AYSO Volunteer which may be a
member of the regional staff such as the regional safety
director, or by tournament or event staff members
Just a reminder that if goals are in use, including
practices and games, they should be staked down so
as to prevent them from falling over, and potentially
hurting anyone. When not in use, they should be put away
in their designated area, and securely locked.

We have two levels of Referees
U8: The U8 class is 4 hours and covers basic game
control. This class qualifies you to center U7 and U8
games. Uniforms are provided in class when you pass the
test.
Regional: The Regional referee class is 8 hours and
covers all the
Laws of the Game. This qualifies you to
referee all regional games. We encourage you to start as
an Assistant Referee and when you feel ready, center U10
games to gain experience.
If you are already a U8 Referee you only need to attend
the second 4 hours of class.

| AYSO's Mission is to develop
and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a
fun, family environment based on AYSO's Philosophies: |
- Everyone Plays
Our program's goal is for
kids to play soccer so we mandate that every player on every
team must play at least 50% of every game. It?s no fun to spend
the game on the bench?and that?s no way to learn soccer!
- Balanced Teams
Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible
because it?s more fun and a better learning experience when
teams of similar ability play. It allows for each player to gain
the experience of a wide variety of teammates of different skill
levels.
- Open Registration
Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years
of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and
enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing. There are no
elimination try-outs and nobody gets cut.
- Positive Coaching
Encouragement of player
effort provides for greater enjoyment for the players and leads
to better-skilled and better-motivated players. A coach can be
one of the most influential people in a child?s life, so AYSO
requires they create a positive experience for every boy and
girl.
- Good Sportsmanship
We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual
respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program
is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.
-
Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their
soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both
individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize
their enjoyment of the game
